It’s been a week now since I have arrived to Beijing from Switzerland and, as promised by many of you, \u00a0it does feel like landing on another planet. The size of the city, the many-floor-roads, the time it takes to get from one tourist spot to the other, the taxi drivers who do not take you where you ask them to take you (this deserves a separate post)…and many many more things that we are not used to<\/em>\ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

To not loose track of another planet dimensions, I would like to share a few particularities from the first week. Here we go:<\/p>\n

#1: The Flies trap bag<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is the bag that I noticed hanging in the street where our hotel is located. I got curious and approached the tree just to discover something rather surprising, slightly disturbing: a bag (almost) full of flies. Most of them were dead. Some of them were still moving. I have no idea what the bag is for: capturing the annoying flying creatures from the streets…or capturing delicious appetiser for someone’s dinner for one of the many restaurants near by?! The flies trap bag remains a mystery to be solved.<\/p>\n

#2 Hair-dressing salon in the street<\/strong><\/p>\n

Just like that…in the middle of the big avenue (4 or 6 lines road just on the other side), you can open your hair-dressing\u00a0salon<\/em>. Why not?<\/p>\n

#3 A boy with the red nails<\/strong><\/p>\n

Spotted in Summer palace<\/em>, while walking around with a dear friend Charline. I’ve seen small girls before…but never small boys. I guess why not?<\/p>\n

#4 Cement-fixed tree<\/strong><\/p>\n

From the series quick and dirty<\/em>…there, fixed it<\/em>\ud83d\ude42 This old tree in the park of the Summer palace\u00a0<\/em>was fixed, I guess. Limited resources? How long will the tree live? Why??<\/p>\n

#5 Holy selfie<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the Forbidden city\u00a0<\/em>people go bananas\u00a0<\/em>while taking pictures. Even monks can’t help the urge of the selfie…<\/p>\n
